Egypt celebrates a cultural gala marking the 83rd anniversary of the discovery of the golden tomb of King Tut Ankhamen, one of the world's greatest archeologist discoveries.
The tomb of the young boy king was discovered on 4 November 1922 in Upper Egypt city of Luxor by British archaeologist Howard Carter.
He was aided by an Egyptian young man who was carrying water to the workers at the excavation site.
Zahi Hawwas, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities said that the celebration this year coincides with a world tour of 50 rare antiquities pieces from King Tut's tomb.
The gala will be held at the Egyptian Museum garden grounds at 06:00 pm. Taking part in the celebration are the British Embassy in Cairo, the British Cultural Center, the Egyptian-British Friendship Society and the Egypt Exploration Society.
An archive photo exhibition will be held for all phases of the tomb's discovery. A documentary on King Tut will be shown followed by a musical performance on the harp by Manal Mohieddin.
