Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman and Founder of the World Economic Forum asserted Friday that Egypt is playing a key political and economical role in the region, expecting a flow of foreign investments into the country due to recent reforms fulfilled by the government.
In statements to the Egyptian state TV, Schwab said that Sharm el-Sheikh forum would empathize the importance of providing one hundred million jobs through the upcoming ten years. "The number of job seekers in the region would increase in the future," he noted.
Concerning terrorism, the WEF's Chief said that the world countries have to face terrorism decisively through agreed mechanisms.
"Egypt is a very important Arab country, playing a key role in the past and still doing so to boost industry and investments," Schwab added.
Concerning recent attacks that rocked the Red Sea resort city of Dahab in Sinai Peninsula, the founder of the WEF said such assaults had no effect on choosing Sharm el-Sheikh to host the forum, describing the gathering as a chance to show support of Egypt against terrorism.
Egypt is rich in natural resources that attracted foreign and Arab investments, he said noting that the Egyptian government managed, only in 8 months, to prepare for the forum.
"The forum aims not only at achieving an economic development, but also targets a similar social economic progress worldwide," he said.
Youth issues, especially employment, would top the forum's agenda, Klaus Schwab said, noting that young men constitute more than half the world's population.
Concerning the forum's motto, which is to unify the economic status of the whole world, Schwab explained that all countries need dialogue to fulfill that goal.
