Euromoney Egypt Conference 2007 will open in Cairo Tuesday to discuss several Egyptian economic issues, the e-website of the Euromoney institution said. A Euromoney statement said that Egypt saw in 2006 a dramatic rise in foreign direct investment, alongside growth in the banking, construction and real estate sectors. Despite these positive developments, there are still problems which need to be addressed such as inflation, unemployment, skills and training, according to the statement.
Finance Minister, Youssef Botros Ghali, and Investment Minister, Mahmoud Mohyiedin, will attend the inauguration of the conference. Large number of Egyptian and foreign experts will attend the two-day conference, which will tackle among other issues rate of development growth, inflation, unemployment, money market, medium and small scale enterprises and direct investments, the website stated.
The two-day conference will be attended by Trade and Industry Minister Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed, Petroleum Minister Sameh Fahmi and Minister of Communication and Information Technology Tarek Kamel. The conference will also be attended by Peter Riddoch, the Chief Executive Officer at Damac Properties, Angus Blair, Head of Research at Beltone Financial, and Ismail Karara, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Co. (GASCO).
Egyptian Prime Minister, Ahmed Nazif will attend the closing session of the conference Wednesday, the website said. Cairo had hosted a Euromoney conference last May to discuss challenges facing the real estate finance. Founded in 1969, Euromoney is the world's leading organiser of conferences for cross-border investment and capital markets.
