Minister of Communication and Information Technology Tarek Kamel Wednesday said the communications sector seeks to reach $ one billion in exports by 2010.

Kamel, who was attending the Euromoney conference, said the sector's exports reached $ 450 million this year and creates some 20,000 job opportunities.

He referred to reform in the information technology sector, which has been going on since the 90s.

It has realised a growth rate between 15 and 20 percent during this year, he added.

He pointed out to the role played by the ministry in following up technological development within the framework of the e-government concepts and the contribution of the sector in supporting ministries and state institutions.
