Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohieddin held a number of meetings during his visit to Washington to attend the joint annual meetings of both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).
He met with Criss Portman WB Deputy President for the Middle East and North Africa, and WB working group representing various sectors to discuss the stance of existing projects between Egypt d the World Bank within the framework of cooperation strategy with Egypt.
The Minister reviewed the priorities of the Egyptian government in regard of such projects, especially those related to the increase of investment opportunities and improving the investment context. The meeting also reviewed the developments of financial sector reform programme and cooperation with the World Bank in making economic use of the carbon emissions.
Portman praised the serious steps taken by the Egyptian government in the domain of economic reform, and spoke highly about their impact on the different economic sectors, especially that Egypt takes decisive steps to develop its economic performance. Within the same framework, the Minister discussed with a group of WB experts the joint cooperation programme targeted by the Egyptian government, that includes raising the potentials in the real-estate domains, and the application of modern management techniques, and activating the training programmes at the WB Institute.
The Minister also reviewed with the Deputy President of the World Bank and Head of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) the investment related to economic reforms, and the proposed cooperation spheres between MIGA and the Investment Ministry.
