Minister of Culture Dr. Farouq Hosni confirmed that work is going on to establish the Civilization Museum at Al-Fostat saying that the museum establishments will end in 6 months to be followed by preparing the museum from inside.
Hosni said the stage of establishments would cost LE 317 million and that the second stage would cost LE 250 million, thus the total cost of the museum amounts to LE 567 million funded wholly by Save Nubia Fund (SNF) under the supervision of the UNESCO.
Hosni said the museum would be a unique one, as it tells the story of the Egyptian ancient civilization throughout its different stages.
The director of the project Ayman Abdul Moneim said the museum would be divided according to decades and topics, as it will contains halls to tell the story of the dawn of civilization, Nile, writing, science, state, community and beliefs of the ancient Egyptian.
However, the SNF director Mohammed Hussein said the museum will include the first workshop of its kind in Egypt so as to restore Egypt’s wealth of textile.
It will also include an area to develop the styles of museum shows, said Hussein, indicating that the museum is provided with a specialized center to move and transfer monumental pieces via using specialized elevators.
Undersecretary Farouq Abdul Salam said the museum will contain a complete area for royal mummies where an integrated center is annexed to it in order to restore these mummies.
