Nazif: National committee for restoring stolen antiquities

Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif issued a decree on the formation of a national committee for the restoration of illegally trafficked artifacts from Egypt. The committee is composed of  8 representatives from concerned ministries and agencies, along with a group of experts in the international law and antiquities.

Culture Minister Farouk Hosni pointed out that the committee will conduct coordination within the framework of national efforts made in the field of restoring stolen antiquities through negotiations, diplomatic channels or concluding international cooperation agreements with overseas countries as well as contacting world museums and agencies that have illegal Egyptian artifacts. The minister said that the committee will include in its membership a number of representatives from ministries of foreign affairs, world cooperation, internal affairs, justice as well as public prosecution, national security agency, and the Supreme Council for Antiquities.
