High school certificate grades will be counted for the third last year only

The National Council for Education issued Monday12/5/2008 a number of tentative proposals at the end of its works. The proposals recommended the return to the third last year grades as a basis for university admission as it was the case in the sixties.

University admission is based on two factors, the high school certificate and universities entrance exams, taking into consideration the desire of students to join the university they would like to. The office which is distributing students to various universities according to their grades would continue to exist as well.

Recommendations included the upgrading of curricula and raising the scientific standard of teachers. The high school certificate would be valid for three years, so as if some one did not join university immediately after receiving the high school certificate, he would have two years more to join university with the same high school certificate. A dialogue by educationists would be staged for a whole week to reach the best education system to be adopted.
