Public revenues reached LE 135.7 billion during the first nine months in this fiscal year 2007-2008, according to a monthly report released by the Finance Ministry on Friday 16/5/2008.
The revenues account for 15.6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), said the report.
Tax revenues during the period from July to March in the current fiscal year jumped by 36.4 percent, reaching LE 87.7 billion, the report showed.
Non-tax revenues surged by 17.1 percent to LE 48 billion, according to the report.
Other revenues increased by 21.8 percent, hitting LE 47.3 billion compared to L.E 38.9 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year, the report indicated.
According to the Finance Ministry report, total expenditure to the GDP jumped during the period from July to March by 20.6 percent to LE 179.4 billion against LE 127.8 billion in the previous fiscal year.
The report attributed the increase in expenditure to a 134.4-percent jump in appropriations for subsidy.
As for the deficit in the budget during the said period, the report said it reached 5 percent of the GDP, against 4 percent in the same period in the previous fiscal year.
