Mrs. Mubarak probes with Argentine President women, childhood issues

Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak had talks Thursday 20/11/2008 with visiting Argentine President Cristina Elizabeth Fernandez de Kirchner on a host of issues pertaining to women and means of removing obstacles hampering the empowerment of women.

During the meeting, Mrs. Mubarak reviewed the achievements realized by Egypt in the field of empowering women at the economic, social and political levels.

Fernandez had arrived in Cairo Wednesday as part of an Arab tour, including Algeria and Tunisia. During the meeting, Mrs. Mubarak stressed Egypt's keenness on protecting children and their rights, citing recent amendments to child law.

Mrs. Mubarak briefed the Argentine leader on the philosophy and activities of the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement (SMWIPM). Mrs. Mubarak said the movement held the first international youth forum in Sharm el-Sheikh and launched an initiative on the use of IT in spreading the culture of peace among peoples.
