The US ambassador-designate to Egypt Francis J. Ricciardone said President Hosni Mubarak is leading Egypt towards a real political reform by endorsing a multi-candidate competitive presidential elections following the recent constitutional amendment.

    The US ambassador said that Egypt is a highly significant country for the United States.

    The US official expressed optimism over the Egyptian- American relations and the future of partnership between the two countries.
