President Hosni Mubarak issued a decree on Monday 12/5/2008 merging the General Authority for Cairo International Conference Center (CICC) with the General Organization for International Exhibition and Fairs (GOIEF).
Under the decree, the rights of the CICC workers will be intact. The CICC power hierarchy and usual work schedules will continue until the planned restructuring of the organization takes place.
Minister of Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed said the decision is part of a plan to introduce sweeping changes into the fairs and exhibitions industry in Egypt.
He pointed out that coordination is under way between the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Tourism to develop and organize the fairs business
