
Sharm El-Sheikh will witness intensive diplomatic activity starting Saturday 17/5/2008 by an Egyptian-US summit between Presidents Hosni Mubarak and George W. Bush. The diplomatic activity will continue Sunday by holding the World Economic Forum on the Middle East known as Davos Economic Forum which will be attended by Presidents Mubarak and Bush together with a large number of the world leaders.
The summit between Mubarak and Bush will tackle a wide range of political and economic issues topped by the ME peace process, the developments of the Lebanese crisis, the current developments in Iraq and the Iranian nuclear file.
The summit will discuss the situation in the Gulf region in view of the strategic significance attached by Egypt to the Gulf security, the developments in Darfur and bilateral relations.
President Bush had asserted at his meeting with President Mubarak in Sharm El-Sheikh last January that friendship between Egypt and the United States is strong and that it represents the cornerstone of the US policy in the region.
Meanwhile, President Mubarak will inaugurate Sunday the World Economic Forum on the Middle East which will be attended by 12 presidents and prime ministers and 1500 figures from 55 states. The forum will discuss a number of scenarios on the future of the region.
Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif will preside over Egypt's delegation to the World Economic Forum which will be attended by the Ministers of Finance, Industry, Trade, Communications and Tourism. A number of economic experts will also take part in the Egyptian delegation.
In his statement before the forum, Dr. Nazif will review the economic reform programs carried by Egypt in the political and economic fields. The forum will also review the steps taken by Egypt for providing a climate encouraging to investment.
