Mubarak-Berlusconi talks deal with UPM, Middle East, peace & Africa

Mubarak and Berlusconi

President Hosni Mubarak reviewed with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on 23/7/2008 a wide range of international issues with emphasis on the Union for the Mediterranean summit, the peace process in the Middle East and the crises facing Africa.

Talks also reviewed developments on the Palestinian and Lebanese arenas and the current situation in Sudan.

Mubarak-Berlusconi meeting was a follow up of another Egyptian-Italian summit which was held in Rome in June.

Berlusconi told President Mubarak that he would support Egypt's aspiration for taking part in the expanded dialogue of the G-8 of industrialized states.

President Mubarak and Premier Berlusconi expressed their satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries which are characterized with a balanced trade exchange and growing Italian investments in Egypt.

During the coming two days, President Mubarak will continue his consultations with the Italian prime minister on international issues of common interest and ways of developing bilateral relations.

Italian media have highlighted the important political talks between President Mubarak and Berlusconi.
