A future vision for transferring Egypt into a developed country by 2030

At a ministerial meeting held Monday18/8/2008, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif reviewed the results of activities by the working groups which were assigned to draw up a future vision of Egypt until the year 2030.

The Prime Minister said this vision should examine measures to move Egypt to the ranks of developed countries.

He said tha Egypt's historical, geographical and humanitarian resources qualifing it to occupy this place if its resources have been properly invested.

Cabinet spokesman, Dr. Magdy Radi said the meeting tackled some spheres which should be given particular interest in order to turn such a vision into reality.

Dr. Radi said the ministerial meeting laid emphasis on the sectors of new and renewable energy and industry, tourism and culture as key avenues for achieving sustainable development.

He said the Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing these ideas through working groups, adding each ministry should have long term strategies for achieving its annual and five-year plans.

Dr. Radi quoted the Prime Minister as stressing the importance of human resources development as a key element for securing the success in achieving this vision.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of culture saying Egypt serves as a culture centre in the Arab region and the Middle East, adding that Egypt possesses a competitive potentials in this field.
