Egypt to actively participate in NEPAD meetings, South Africa

"The meeting of the NEPAD steering committee will be essentially covers the resolutions that issued by heads of the African Union ,Heads of State and members of the Commission on the implementation of NEPAD during the AU summit hosted by Egypt last June in Sharm El-Sheikh. As the heads had held an executive assessment of the achievements made since launching of NEPAD and reviewed the difficulties faced by the implementation of a number of programmes and projects and come upon the necessary funding for a variety of projects, especially the one concerning infrastructure which represents a high priority for the progress of development in Africa,"said Ambassador Ibrahim Ali Hassan, personal representative of President Mubarak's Initiative of NEPAD into 18 / 8 / 2008 during his orientation to South Africa to participate in the meetings of the NEPAD steering committee to be held in Johannesburg from August 21-23.

He added that Johannesburg meeting will also discuss the additional meetings as agreed upon by African leaders that serves in pushing on the participation of the developed countries and urged the development partners to fulfill their commitments to Africa .These come in the frame of the coming preparations with the representatives of the heads of the Group of Eight major industrialized countries.
