Foreign Minister: Egypt keen on supporting Cameroonian nomination

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit met Sunday 7/9/2008 his Cameroonian counterpart Henry Eyebe Ayissi for talks on boosting bilateral relations.

Abul Gheit said Egypt supports Cameroonian bids to join prestigious international bodies like the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ambassador Hossam Zaki said the talks tackled bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

Economic and trade cooperation were also high on the agenda, thanks to Egypt's membership at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Zaki added.

Ayissi said he came to Egypt also to convey a message from Cameroonian President Paul Biya to President Hosni Mubarak.

He termed as distinguished bilateral ties, noting that Cameroon needs Egypt's support in the nomination of the Cameroonian Justice Minister to join the ICC.
