Egypt welcomes Tripoli reconciliation deal

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit expressed Egypt's support for Monday's reconciliation deal among some Lebanese factions.

In press statements on Tuesday9/9/2008, Abul-Gheit said that the reconciliation document, brokered by Lebanese parliamentary majority leader Saad al-Hariri, capped painstaking efforts exerted by MP Hariri to bring an end to tensions in the city.

Egypt backed all efforts and measures taken by the Lebanese state to maintain peace and stability in the region, Abul-Gheit said.

In the same context, Abul-Gheit reiterated Egypt's commitment to back the Lebanese government agenda on development plans.

Egypt will supply Lebanon with part of its needs of electricity and natural gas to help promoting the country's development process, he said.
