Sorour, El Sherif receive Chinese parliamentary delegation

People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Serour received Thursday 20/11/2008 a Chinese parliamentary delegation led by Ismail Tiliwaldi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC); China's top legislature.

The delegation is in the region upon an invitation from the parliaments of Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen to visit the three countries. Sorour said the meeting is part of activating the mechanism Egypt and China have agreed upon to follow up bilateral relationship not only at the parliamentary level but all other levels as well.

Following the meeting, a mechanism between the NPC and the People's Assembly of Egypt held its second session to discuss achievements so far in the bilateral relationship and activating the signed agreements.

Meantime, Shura Council Speaker Safwat el-Sherif received Thursday 20/11/2008 the Chinese parliamentary delegation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of promoting bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary, tourism, economic and culture fields.

Sherif also posted the delegation on the development of parliamentary life in Egypt.
