Population issue tops NDP agenda

Gamal Mubarak the Policies Secretary of the National Democratic Party said on Sunday 28/10/2007 the issue of population is a national cause not a partisan one.

During a workshop held by the NDP on the issue of population in preparation for the 9th Congress of the NDP, Gamal Mubarak urged all categories of society either parties or civil society organizations to confront it.

Gamal Mubarak said the NDP would put the population issue on the State's priorities because, he said, it is a main pillar of the development process.

The workshop was attended by Minister of Health and Population Hatem el-Gabali and a number of senior officials and representatives of civil society organizations.

Gamal Mubarak said that this issue will be discussed by the NDP coming Congress because it has a major impact on the country's development process.

"NDP will present a clear-cut strategy and policy covering the coming 15 years," he added.

El-Gabali told the workshop that President Mubarak had agreed on holding a national population conference next year in cooperation with the Ministry of Information.
