Zakaria Azmi: 31 articles of NDP statute to be amended

NDP Assistant Secretary General for organization, membership, finance and administration affairs Zakaria Azmi said the 9th congress of the NDP will discuss proposals including the amending of 31 articles of the party's statute.

Also proposed is the introduction of three new texts, he said.

Zakaria Azmi said one of the proposed amendments envisages forming a higher body of the party grouping members of the political bureau and secretariat general.

Another proposed amendment suggests that members of the secretariat general would become members of the political bureau, Azmi said.

A new article was added to the NDP statute, under which the party's presidential candidate will be named during the general congress, he added.

Another amendment suggests the general secretariat to be formed of 30 members who would be elected during the NDP congress; he said adding that 26 members would also join the secretariat representing the Egyptian governorates.

Azmi said that another proposal suggests holding the NDP's internal elections every four years instead of five years.
