President Mubarak held a meeting Saturday ‎‎3/11/2007with the members of the NDP politbureau ‎after its new formation. ‎

The members of the congress had agreed on the ‎nomination by the president of eight member of the ‎politbureau. ‎

They are Youssef Wali, Kamal al-Shazli, Amal ‎Othman, Ahmed al-Tayeb (first time), Zeinab Radwan ‎‎(first time) Edward al-Zahaby (first time) and ‎Tharwat Bassilly (first time).‎


NDP Secretary-General Safwat al-Sherif said President ‎Mubarak explained the reason behind establishing a ‎higher board of the NDP.‎


He said Article No. 37 of the statute provides for the ‎formation of the politibureau under the party ‎chairman, and the membership of the deputy ‎chairman, the prime minister, the speakers of the ‎People's Assembly and the Shura Council, and the ‎NDP secretary general by the virtue of their positions ‎and eight members elected by the president through ‎nomination by the party chairman.‎
