In a message to the members of the National Democratic Party on the occasion of the holding of the ninth NDP Congress, President Mubarak confirmed that the NDP has taken long strides toward building the present and future of the homeland. The President cited the continued development seen in the NDP toward realizing reform. Mubarak is to hold an expanded meeting today 5/11/2007 with the members of the general secretariat of the NDP with its new formation which hit 34 members.
During the meeting, the secretary general of the NDP, the members of the bureau's body and the specific secretaries at the central level are to be named. No change in the positions of the current partisan leaderships is expected to take place.
Here is the text of the message:
The ninth congress of the NDP is held from November 3-6, 2007 and we have taken long strides on the way of our partisan action and participation in the building of the present and future of the homeland. Five years have passed since the holding of our eighth congress during which the NDP witnessed a continued radical development and contribution to our political and partisan life, focusing on issues of top priorities to Egypt and its people. During these five years, the homeland witnessed bold steps on the way of reform and development and unprecedented transformations toward upgrading our legislative and constitutional structure and liberalizing our economic and political life.
The NDP led these transformations through its upgraded thought and crystal-clear program which enjoyed the confidence of the people and their support in the legislative and presidential elections two years ago. We enter our ninth general congress while we have just finished the elections which included all the levels of the NDP and its cadres. We have exerted immense efforts to prepare for this top important congress. I'm confident that the upcoming congress would help boost communication between the cadres of the NDP and its wide base and promote its status as the majority party. I voice my appreciation to all members of the NDP and its leaderships. We could not have realized what we achieved since our eighth general congress without your efforts, contribution and genuine Egyptian and partisan affiliation.
Mohamed Hosni Mubarak
President of the National Democratic Party
