Chairman of the Organization Committee Ahmed Ezz said today (Monday, November 5) that all party members who attended the 9th General Conference of the National Democratic Party are elected members and that the ruling party is resolved to depend on popular cadres in the years to come.
"The popularity of our members is one reason why about 83 per cent of the candidates we fielded in the last Shura Council elections won seats in the council," said Ezz.
He said the NDP would continue to hold continuous consultations with its parliamentary office. He added that the last parliamentary session saw members of the NDP meeting about 102 times with the parliamentary office.
Party members no longer criticize the party outside its corridors.
The Chairman of the Organization Committee went on to say that the party unit elections reflected the desire of party leaders to upgrade party work.
"The elections had also produced a new generation of people who were away from the organizational structure of the party before the elections," said Ezz.
He added that the officials of the NDP were aware of the fact that their party was not alone in the field.
"But we believe that our party is stronger than all the other parties," said Ezz. "It is more organized in spite of what the opposition says about the elections."
He said the NDP was the only party that is able to organize such elections, which were held in 6900 party units with the participation of about a million people.
"The elections were very competitive," said Ezz. "Candidates in the elections held about 463 conferences during the election."
He said the Organization Committee was mandated to be the link between the parliamentary office and party members. Ezz called for more coordination between the committees of the party with the aim of producing a new generation of leaders who are up to responsibilities in leadership positions.
