UNDER PRESIDENT GAMAL ABDUL NASSER
The period from the outbreak of the 1952 Revolution until the death of President Gamal Abdul-Nasser in 1970 saw the in-coming and outgoing of 18 cabinets, most prime ministers of which hailed from the military.
Nasser assumed the premiership eight times. The Nasser cabinets aside, the longest-enduring cabinet was that of Nour Al-Din Tarraf in October 1958. Tarraf was prime minister at the time of the unity with Syria (23 months).
Meanwhile, the least-enduring cabinet was that which had been in office from February 25 till March 8 1954 and collapsed on account of the March crisis and because of differences between Gamal Abdul-Nasser and General Mohammed Naguib.
UNDER PRESIDENT MOHAMMED ANWAR AL-SADAT
Under President Mohammed Anwar Al-Sadat (1970 - 1981), Egypt saw 16 cabinet reshuffles in which Sadat assumed the premiership three times.
With the exception of the Sadat-headed cabinets, Dr. Aziz Sedki's, formed in January 1972, is considered the cabinet with the longest tenure.
Several prime ministers assumed office more than once: Mamdouh Salim (five times), Mahmoud Fawzi (four times,) and Dr. Mostafa Khalil (twice).
UNDER MOHAMMED HOSNI MUBARAK
Eight prime ministers assumed the office under President Hosni Mubarak (1981 – to date). They are: Dr. Fo'uad Mohi Al-Din, Kamal Hassan Ali, Dr. Ali Lotfi, Dr. Atef Sedki, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury, Dr. Atef Ebeid and Dr. Ahmed Nazif (apart from President Mubarak himself), all of whom have been civilians.
Meanwhile, the Atef Sedki-cabinet was the longest-enduring, not only under President Mubarak but also since the outbreak of the 1952 revolution (10 years).
