President Mubarak is very keen to develop the African continent as Egypt belongs to Africa. Egypt's unique location in Africa compels it to follow up what is happening in Africa and to participate in making the African present and to build the African future basing on the national security of Egypt on one hand, and Egypt's commitment to the principles and objectives of the charters of the Arab League, the African Union and the Organization of Islamic Conference, on the other hand.
The Egyptian foreign policy gives great attention to the African continent. Egypt has always worked to develop the mechanisms for unifying the African and international efforts to deal with the problems in the conflict zones and to support stability in Africa.
President Mubarak's speeches on the various African occasions over the past twenty-five years emphasize the status of Africa not only in the conscience of President Mubarak, the Egyptian Foreign Policy and the Egyptian people but also on the practical level as Egypt under the leadership of President Mubarak has always sought to take active steps toward boosting the progress and the growth in the continent. Egypt is taking initiatives and is hosting many events and conferences aiming to reform the African continent, to eliminate the poverty and to achieve the sustainable development.
