The genius political vision of President Hosni Mubarak is what made him move during the last two weeks of the current month from Paris, where he chaired with Nicolas Sarkozy the first Union for the Mediterranean Summit that included the European Union countries, with the countries of the southern Mediterranean African countries in addition to the eastern Mediterranean Asian countries, passing on South Africa and then to Uganda.
This passage confirms many important meanings such as:
1- Africa was right when it chose Sharm el-Sheikh to hold the last African Union summit in June, and handed over the union's leadership in its new session to Egypt and President Mubarak.
2- The Union for the Mediterranean was right when it chose Egypt and President Mubarak as a co-chairman President in its first summit in Paris.
3- Egypt, with its special geographic location, is capable to be Africa's gateway to Europe and Europe's gateway to Africa.
4- At the level of the current local, regional and global issues, the four countries which President Mubarak visited during the last two weeks have very important roles by virtue their influence:
France chairs the current session of the European Union and the union for the Mediterranea was its idea.
Italy and France are influential members in the great G-8 industrial countries which discusses the issues of energy, food and climate change.
South Africa represents with Libya Africa in the current session of the Security Council as permanent members.
Uganda is important whether for Sudan's and Darfur crisis or for the Nile's water its projects to utilize it.
5- These four visits strongly reply for all the doubting in Egypt's role and those who allege that it retreated.
So, the meeting of Egypt and South Africa represents a peace force and great development in Africa and the international surrounding.
