The African dream

The 9th summit of the African Union, to be held in Accra, is of a great importance for the African continent which has been suffering several problems most of which necessitate the interference of the international community.

The summit seeks to activate the institutions of the African Union, a matter that leads to boosting the Union's role in facing all political, economic social and cultural problems.

It is normal that the summit focuses on the formation of a unified African government being executive body of the African Union resolutions.

While some African leaders require setting up this government as soon as possible, most of the African countries prefer to take gradual steps to build up a unified and more powerful African continent, especially that such experiences have shown great success in other continents.

For example, the European union did not establish its institutions in terms of administrative resolutions in a single day, rather took gradual steps , taking into consideration the circumstances and positions of each country ; it has not yet formed a unified European government.

This may justify the failure of the Arab endeavours of instant unity, having depended on our emotions not logic, ignoring the natural differences between countries as to political, economic and social institutions.

The African Continent still suffers various conflicts such as those in Darfur and Somalia, beside poverty, drought and social problems, which necessitate joining forces and integrating efforts to be up to such challenges and save the African citizen.
