President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak emphasized in front of the session of the 2nd EU-Afro summit which opened in Lisbon yesterday that democratic and human rights issues could not be dealt with away from other related issues namely poverty and development.

He said that civil and political human rights must be in consistence with the economic, social and cultural rights including the right of development.

The President added that the main goal of the summit is to launch the new strategic partnership between Europe and Africa which will serve the interests of both sides.
