The Portuguese authorities have finalized arrangements for the EU-Africa Summit to kick off here on Saturday 8/12/2007.
President Hosni Mubarak will hand over the presidency of the summit to Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates at the inaugural session to start at 9.30 am (11.30 am Cairo time).
A closed working session will follow at 11 am.
Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates will host a working luncheon for the heads of the delegations before a second working session.
At this session, issues of governance, human rights, security, peace, migration, climate change and development will be probed. At the end of the summit's first day, Portuguese President Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva will host a dinner banquet for the heads of the delegations.
In the second day, a closed working session will be held in the morning before the closing session which will be held at 12 pm (2 pm Cairo time).
The Portuguese Foreign Minister will hold a news conference following the closing session to announce the summit's outcome and statements.
