President Hosni Mubarak stated 3 main conditions to guarantee the success of Annapolis conference in USA. The first condition is a timetable for the final status situation and that the mechanism required for the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations should be within a year time.
The second condition is that the conference should achieve progress in the Syrian and Lebanese track. The third condition is the necessity of promoting a mechanism for helping the negotiating parties to over-come their differences.
Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit left Cairo Sunday 25/11/2007 for the United States to take part in Annapolis conference. In pre-departure statements, Minister Abul-Gheit said that the conference should be a starting point for serious negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that she refuses to impose certain conditions on Israel. While President Bush will deliver a speech on the opening session of the conference concentrating on what will happen after the conference.
On her part, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni welcomed the Arab countries participating in the conference and said that the Arab countries should not put conditions for the negotiations.
