"Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed in Washington Monday 26/11/2007 preparations for launching final status negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis following Annapolis conference," a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said Monday 26/11/2007.

The meeting came few hours after Abul Gheit's arrival in the US to take part in the Annapolis peace conference.

The meeting comes as part of the Palestinian-Egyptian coordination to back the Palestinian issue, the spokesman said.
