Islam rejects fanaticism

Grand Imam of al-Azhar Sheikh Mohamed Sayyed Tantawi Saturday asserted the Islamic Sharia's tolerance and rejection of  fanaticism and extremism and call for resisting any assault on Islamic sanctities.

Addressing the inauguration of the 4th annual conference of the Sharia Ulemas Complex of the World Islamic Council for Call and Relief, Sheikh Tantawi, who chairs the council, said the Islamic Sharia has brought about justice in terms of speech and judgement and dealings between rulers and subjects, friends and foes and in testimonies.

He underlined the importance of councils that group ulemas from all corners of the globe to probe everything that concerns the Islamic nation and serves the religion of Islam.
