Egyptian poets and writers protest before UN

National societies and intellectuals marched in mass rallies before the UN in Cairo calling for ceasefire in Lebanon and Palestine.

The march included delegations of the Egyptian Writers Society, poets and artists as well as political organizations. Maher Naser the UN representative in Cairo was handed a protest statement of the brutal Israeli acts.

On the other hand, the Arab Woman Association organized a protest stance the day before yesterday at El-Tahrir Square garden and they were dressed in black to show their stand from the Israeli attack on Lebanon.

Various number of authorities participated in the march as the Center for Egyptian Women's Legal Assistance Foundation, New Woman Association, Woman and Memory Forum and other associations under the presidency of Hoda Badran who issued a statement condemning the Israeli massacres and called for Middle East problems' settlement.
