Mrs. Mubarak reiterates solidarity with Lebanese, Palestinian Women

Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, Chairperson of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, reiterated on Monday7/8/2006 her solidarity with Lebanese and Palestinian women in the face of the harsh humanitarian crisis they were subjected to.

Mrs. Mubarak termed as a terrible tragedy the situation in Lebanon and Palestine.
In statements after chairing a meeting by the society, Mrs. Mubarak said that today's meeting is mainly concerned with enhancing assistance given to the Lebanese and Palestinians.
She said Egypt is holding contacts with all sides concerned to guarantee that these aids are delivered to those who really need them.

She lauded the role of the civil society in offering assistance to the Lebanese and Palestinian people.

"Our responsibility will not be confined to offering necessary humanitarian aid to save the lives of many people in Lebanon and the Palestinian lands, but will also include efforts for the reconstruction and development of Lebanon," she said.

She expressed happiness that her initiative entitled "Culture: The Language of Peace" was still in place despite the situation in the Arab World.
