The union of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating in Egypt will hold a conference next Tuesday16/8/2006 in solidarity with the Lebanese and the Palestinian peoples.

The representatives and heads of the NGOs will discuss how they can contribute to the re-construction process in post-war Lebanon.

Up to 1,200 people, mostly civilians were killed in Lebanon since Israel launched its offensive on July 12 after Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others in a cross- border raid.

Some one million people have been displaced from their homes in heavily-battered southern Lebanon.

Israeli air strikes and massive bombardment have also left the country's infrastructure in ruins.
The UN Security Council adopted Friday a resolution to put an end to the conflict and ordered a stop of "hostilities" as of 05:00 GMT on Monday.
