Two flights carrying some 373 Egyptians arrived at Cairo International airport Friday July 28 coming from Damascus, as part of an emergency plan to evacuate Egyptian citizens in Lebanon.
Thirty-one returnees were issued travel documents, by the Egyptian embassy in Beirut after they had lost their passports as they fled in panic of the Israeli bombardment on Lebanon.
All 31 were allowed to get in but five, who were referred to the Passport Department to check their identities, since they carried no Egyptian IDs.
Up to 10,000 Egyptians have returned home so far from the war battered country.
