Supply and cargo ship, Halaib docked in Alexandria yesterday August 12, 2006 with 100 passengers of different nationalities, namely Egyptians, Lebanese and Palestinians, including 16 children on board. The ship had earlier carried 1305 tons of humanitarian and relief assistance to Lebanon, including water, milk and foodstuff.
The returnees have expressed their gratitude for the political efforts exerted by Egypt and President Hosni Mubarak to achieve a ceasefire and end the bloodshed in the hope of bringing about peace to Lebanon. They were also appreciative of the humanitarian assistance and for the on-board-ship facilitation of entry procedures.
Nedhal Yehia, Lebanon's Consul-General in Alexandria has further expressed his government's appreciation of the humanitarian and relief assistance extended by Egypt to his country.
