Self-restraint

Before the world could agree to an all-comprehensive definition of terrorism, the nomenclature associated to those who contradict the world's super powers or who raise their heads in defense of what they consider to be right, there has emerged a new term more unpalatable in terms of meaning and indication than the first; namely self-restraint.

The world's super powers are presently urging Israel to exercise self-restraint, without demanding an end to the country's military campaign in Lebanon. The US believes the decision to bring military operations to a halt belongs entirely to the State of Israel.

On his part, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has described Israel's battles as both just and moral. He added that nothing would deter his country from realizing its goals. Olmert has also said that the Israeli Army will struggle with its all might to implement the international resolutions of relevance to Lebanon.

It is a wonder that Israel which has long maneuvered and rejected the resolutions of international legitimacy including that of the International Court of Justice concerning the Separating Wall should be the country to seek implementation of international resolutions. And why not, especially that they call for the handing over of the two Israeli prisoners and seek to disarm and disintegrate Hezbollah as an entity.
