Despite the 30-hour period of grace requested by the Israeli Army; the purpose of which was to launch an intensified ground offensive to change the face of southern Lebanon before the ceasefire went into effect, the outcome of this war, according to military and political analysts in Tel Aviv, was not in Israel's favor. The war against Hezbollah marks a real defeat of the Israeli Defense Army.
Some have this attributed to a failed management of the war by the political leadership, which calls for early elections.
Others believe there is a need to draw upon the lessons learnt, which means engaging in serious negotiations on all tracks to reach a peace deals with Lebanon, Syria and Palestine and thereby eliminate the real causes of conflict.
