At the time Arab and international efforts are exerted to implement the UN Security Council resolution 1701 on Lebanon plus preparing for an international conference on Lebanon's reconstruction, Syrian President Bashar Assad delivered a speech on Lebanese resistance and Syria's role in its support. Assad leveled accusations here and there given that he criticized Arab countries and March 14 Group in Lebanon, to which the Lebanese prime minister belongs, regarding them as an "Israeli product".
Yet, the countries criticized by Assad kept silent despite the fact that they are the effective powers in the Arab world. Also, the foreign ministers of these countries exerted relentless efforts during the war on Lebanon in order to halt the Israeli offensive. In his speech, Assad confirmed that Syria is no need of any Arab support and that it did not get any Arab party involved in something, yet this really requires a complete review.
