In his speech a few days ago, Syrian President Bashar el Assad harshly attacked 14 March Forces in Lebanon describing them as an Israeli product. He, moreover, said that Israel launched its war on Lebanon to rescue this group. These are very dangerous accusations as they come from a president of a neighboring Arab country. Still, 14 March Forces are a political power that represents a majority following last year's free and fair elections in Lebanon.
I have head an important remark from a Lebanese 14 March Forces politician. He described what Assad's said as an insult of the whole Lebanese people as these forces represent the majority in Lebanese parliament and government.
He pointed out that Assad's statements are an insult of the Lebanese resistance which showed great stamina during the war in a time when Damascus did not do any act of resistance or take any step toward the occupied Golan Heights.
