Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit called for amending a US-French UNSC draft resolution on Lebanon.
He told Tuesday's edition of al-Wadf newspaper that the resolution should envisage an Israeli withdrawal from the Lebanese territories and a solution to the issue of the occupied Shebaa Farms.
Egypt also sees that the resolution should go in line with a seven-point plan presented by the Lebanese government at the Rome conference.
The Egyptian foreign minister told al-Wafd daily that any multinational forces in Lebanon should not be operating under the NATO banner.
The Egyptian top diplomat said Egypt rejects to take part in any international force on the Arab lands.
On the Palestinian issue, Abul-Gheit said Egypt has been seeking to open a way for talks between Palestinians and Israelis to achieve the
Palestinian interests.
As for the Egyptian-Iranian ties, the foreign minister said that there was no problem in the relations between Egypt and Iran.
Abul-Gheit stressed that Egypt was a heavyweight Middle East country that has been seeking to serve its own interests.
On terror-combat, the Egyptian foreign minister said that Egypt was cooperating with the world countries on combating terrorism.
Moreover, in wrapping up their extraordinary meeting in Beirut Monday, the Arab Foreign Ministers decided to dispatch a four-member committee including the Foreign Ministers of Qatar, the UAE, Lebanon and the Arab League Secretary General to New York for conveying the Arab demands regarding the Security Council draft resolution.
The Arab Foreign Ministers' Council renewed support for Lebanon in resisting the Israeli aggressions.
The Council underlined commitment to provide political support for the Lebanese government and its seven-point plan to solve the conflict.
The Council strongly condemned the relentless Israeli offensive in Lebanon. It also regretted failure of the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in maintaining world peace and security.
The Arab FMs' Council adopted a series of resolutions as follows:
-Condemning the bloody Israeli attack on Lebanon, regretting the failure of the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in maintaining world peace and security and calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and lifting the Israeli blockade on the Lebanese territories.
-Cautioning against repercussions of Israel's use of military force on the stability in Lebanon, the Arab countries and the whole region.
-Standing by Lebanon in resisting the Israeli aggression and expressing full backing to the Lebanese government plan to expand its sovereignty to cover the whole Lebanese territories.
-Stressing the Arab Commitment to provide full political backing to the Lebanese government and its seven-point plan to solve the conflict, according to the Arab Foreign Ministers' emergency meeting -resolutions.
-Supporting the stance of the Lebanese government to introduce amendments to the UN Security Council draft resolutions.
-Cautioning the UN Security Council against repercussions of adopting "inapplicable" resolutions that could complicate the situation on the ground.
-Slamming the Israeli massacres in Lebanon as war crimes that require an immediate international probe by the United Nations.
The Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting also called for the following:
-Holding Israel fully accountable for repercussions of targeting the Lebanese civilians and infrastructure and holding Israel responsible for compensating Lebanon for the human and financial losses and destruction of the Lebanese infrastructure in the Israeli offensive.
-Appreciating efforts' of the Arab and international parties rushing to offer financial and humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.
-Holding a dollars' conference to probe means of helping Lebanon overcome consequences of the Israeli offensive.
-Assigning the Arab League Secretary General to follow-up consultations and contacts in coordination with the Qatari delegation at the UN Security Council and the Arab Group to implement the resolutions.
The meeting of the Arab FMs' Council also decided to:
-Assign UAE Foreign Minister, in his capacity as a representative of the Arab countries at the UN Security Council, and the Arab League Secretary General to review the Arab viewpoint on the Lebanon crisis and consult on means of solving the problem.
-Holding an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council following the return of an Arab delegation from New York to discuss the delegation's report.
-Welcome the holding of an emergency Arab summit proposed by Saudi Arabia and follow up a Yemeni proposal to hold an extraordinary summit.
On the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Arab FMs Council called for holding a meeting of the UN Security council to probe ways of reaching a settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict on the different tracks and implement ail the UN Security Council resolutions on the conflict.
