Abul Gheit Sends Message To Pakistani Counterpart

An Egyptian official and popular delegation will head for Beirut Tuesday morning in a show of solidarity with the Lebanese people.

The delegation includes information Minister Anas EL-Fiqi, Trade and Industry Minister Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed and Health Minister Hatem El-Gabli.

Some 70 personalities representing all Egyptian political powers, a number of editors-in-chief, writers and intellectuals will be among the delegation members.

The Egyptian delegation is scheduled to meet with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora, a number of parliament members and media men.

'The delegation will call on the injured in Lebanese hospitals and inspect the Egyptian field hospital.

Egyptian humanitarian aid is expected to continue over the coming few days to meet relief requirements.

"President Hosni Mubarak said all Egyptian political parties should be represented in the delegation," according to the Information Minister.

The delegation's visit is an expression of Egypt's full solidarity with the Lebanese people.
The Trade and Industry Minister lauded Egyptian factories and companies that voiced keenness on sending aid to the Lebanese, people, noting that some 60 tons of foodstuffs have been sent yesterday.

For his part, the Minister of Health said he maintained contacts with his Lebanese counterpart to help face any shortage in medical supplies, praising the role played by private pharmaceuticals companies in this regard.

The Egyptian armed forces took all measures needed to secure the visit of the Egyptian delegation.

Fourteen planes ferrying 64 tons of medical aid and foodstuffs were sent to Lebanon, in addition to a field hospital that was sent upon directives from Mubarak.
