Mubarak, Khalifa assert solidarity with Lebanon

President Hosni Mubarak and UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al-Nuhayyan Sunday asserted full solidarity with Lebanon in light of the Israeli military escalation.

They said in a joint statement after their talks in Cairo that stability is key for the region, asserting the importance of putting the Middle East peace process back on track.

They reiterated the need to render the Middle East an area free of weapons of mass destruction. The two leaders also stressed that Iraq's sovereignty and integral territory should be respected, denouncing in the strongest possible terms terrorist operations and extremism.
