
President Mubarak said Egypt's stance towards the Israeli aggression on Lebanon was clear since the very beginning.
The President referred to accelerated moves at the Arab, regional and international levels for halting the aggression saying that Israeli attacks against civilian innocents were unjustified.
This came in statements by Safwat Al-Sherif, the Secretary General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) following President Mubarak's meeting with the NDP Secretaries from Alexandria and neighboring governorates.
Sherif said during the meeting, the President stressed the United Nations slow pace in taking a resolution on a ceasefire led to the deterioration and the continuation of the aggression, indicating that what took place in Qana was a crime against humanity by all accounts.
The President said a number of Arab leaders were responsive to the convening of an Arab summit, indicating that Egypt was interested in the meetings which were held at the level of the Arab Foreign Ministers.
We shall continue to work with a number of Arab leaders for adopting a unified Arab stance; he said adding that we shall continue to work for settling disagreements among sisterly Arab countries for rallying the Arab ranks.
President Mubarak stressed the significance of Arab cohesion in the face of what they called the new Middle East. The President said we shall remain committed to our nationalism and identity adding that no map would be imposed on the region. He said the Arab region will remain committed to its culture.
The President said Egypt's efforts with the member states of the Security Council will continue for reaching an unconditional ceasefire, adding assistance to the Lebanese people will be maintained.
He said the relief aircraft have arrived in Lebanon adding Egypt has supplied Lebanon with a field hospital.
Sherif said President Mubarak shed light on his contacts with a number of world leaders and his warning against the dangerous aftermaths' which could take place if no immediate ceasefire was reached.
The President reiterated Egypt's support for the seven points given by the Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora adding that the Egyptian stance has no other substitutes.
The President said the Iraqi aggression on Kuwait was a fatal blow to the Arab region and opened the Gulf region before setting military bases.
Sherif: Mubarak asserts 2007 to be the year of constitutional Reforms
President Mubarak underlined that the coming year would be devoted to constitutional reforms, said Safwat Al-Sherif Monday.
In press statements, Sherif quoted President Mubarak as saying, at a meeting in Alexandria with NDP parliament members, the fourth congress of the NDP, slated for September 1.9, would address political and social reforms in Egypt.
President Mubarak, said Sherif, underlined the importance of the fourth NDP conference as the government and the NDP would review the achievements realized regarding the presidential electoral platform.
NDP Secretary-General Safwat AL-Sherif, in his press statements, noted that the meeting of President Mubarak with the NDP members tackled proposals on developing Alexandria port and building an international motorway along with other development projects.
Mubarak, said Sherif, indicated that Egypt has always been an oasis for national unity with its Muslims and Copts, having common understanding on all issues.
As for the Palestinian issue, the President, added Sherif, said Egypt has been exerting efforts, in coordination with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to contain the critical situation in the territories.
An Egyptian working team is in Gaza Strip contacting all Palestinian factions, Sherif quoted Mubarak as having said.
President Mubarak said an Egyptian popular and official delegation will head on Tuesday for Beirut in support of the Lebanese people.
