Mubarak, Bahraini King affirm solidarity with Lebanon

President Hosni Mubarak and King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa underlined during a session of talks in Sharm El- Sheikh their solidarity with Lebanon. They underscored the necessity of maintaining the Lebanese unity and territorial integrity.

The two Arab leaders also confirmed their stance in supporting efforts of the Lebanese government for reconstructing Lebanon. The two leaders underlined their solidarity with Lebanon.

Presidential Spokesman Suleiman Awwad said that the Egyptian-Bahraini summit talked discussed the current Arab position focusing on the Lebanese and Palestinian levels, position in Iraq and debates on the Iranian nuclear file.

Mubarak reviewed with the Bahraini King results of contacts with Arab and world leaders, Awwad said. The two leaders discussed the Arab action to survive the peace efforts in the Middle East and affirmed their support to resolutions of the Arab League latest ministerial meting, he added.

At the same time, President Hosni Mubarak held a tête-à-tête meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Borg al-Arab airport before winding up a two-day visit to Egypt.

President Mubarak and Sheikh Sabah resumed consultations that started between them on Monday21/8/2006 covering the latest developments in the region, especially on the Lebanese, Palestinian and Iraqi arenas and bilateral relations.

Presidential spokesman said consultations between the two leaders focused of the importance of performing the UNSC resolution 1701although it did not adopt the seven points offered by the Lebanese Prime Minister in Rome conference. The two Arab leaders stressed the necessity of Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon and giving respect to Lebanon's independence, sovereignty and unity, Awwad noted.
