Human trafficking is a dangerous global issue

Mrs Mubarak attends womens day celebration Mrs Suzanne Mubarak said human trafficking is the bad face of immigration, adding that Egypt will cooperate with its partners to fight this phenomenon.

Mrs Mubarak, head of the Suzanne Mubarak's Women's International Peace Movement, pointed out that Egypt launched a campaign under the motto "End Human Trafficking Now" to raise awareness of the immigration case and its negative and positive aspects.

She said that Immigration was posing a major challenge to all world countries in light of the fierce cooperation for resources and job.

During a consultive meeting in Cairo Wednesday17/5/2006 of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Business Council, Mrs Mubarak said this issue affects all sectors of the society, especially women and children.

She noted that civil society organizations, governments, and international organisations should all join efforts in facing up to human trafficking.

 Mrs Mubarak said, "We are ready to cooperate with all Partners, international organisations, and businessmen to fight this phenomenon.

On the other hand Mrs Suzanne Mubarak hailed the role played by the International Organization for Migration (IOM)'s consultative business council in dealing with the issue of immigration.

Addressing a meeting of the council on Wednesday, Mrs Mubarak said the council's way of dealing with the immigration issue helped highlight its human dimension.

She also gave tribute to the council's efforts in rallying governments, international organisations and the private sector into drawing up a unified strategy to deal with major challenges posed by the immigration issue.

She said that immigrants have made valuable contributions to their host countries and countries of origin.

Mrs Mubarak drew attention to the issue of human trafficking, warning that it was posing great dangers to all countries including Egypt.

She urged coordinated efforts from all government and non- governmental bodies as well as private and international institutions to put an end to human trafficking.

She said a campaign was underway to raise awareness about the issue at the national, regional and international levels.
