Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak on Tuesday expressed heartfelt solidarity with the Lebanese and Palestinian people in their current ordeal. "Our hearts break for the Lebanese and Palestinian people" Mrs. Mubarak said, addressing a National Council for Women meeting on Lebanon.

Mrs. Mubarak said what is going on in Lebanon is a humanitarian disaster in the full sense of the word. "While it was supposed to continue its construction and development efforts, Lebanon found itself heavily battered by a wide-scale war that killed innocent civilians," she said.

 

Mrs. Mubarak criticized international community's silence at the tragic scenes in Lebanon. Is it easy for us to see children killed, thousands displaced and entire communities isolated under fire without doing anything?" she wondered. She urged the international community and international aid organizations to act in tandem to ease the sufferings of the Lebanese and Palestinian people.
