Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, received on Sunday10/12/2006 the women for peace international human rights award for her contributions to promoting the rate of women and youths in establishing peace and spreading its culture in the society.

She was also awarded the medal for being a leading female figure calling for the spread of the culture of peace through her initiative, the first of its kind in the Middle East, designed to support the role of women to promote social development in Egypt and enable the younger generation to participate in peace making and spreading the principles of tolerance.

The ceremony was attended by a number of German officials, Arab and foreign ambassadors, journalists and Parliament members.

Former German foreign minister Hans Dietrich Genscher awarded Mrs. Mubarak the medal.
